I am a social justice-focused activist, author, academic, and artist. I am the Ruth Wynn Woodward Junior Chair in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies at Simon Fraser University. My work is rooted in my experiences as a disabled, queer, trans and non-binary person with experiences of long-term poverty and short(er)-term homelessness. I am also deeply privileged, as a white settler born in the Canadian settler-state. I live and work in the unceded and occupied territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) Nations and what is now called Vancouver and Burnaby, British Columbia.
